A little about Brigham City...

Brigham City is a city in Box Elder County, Utah, United States. The population was 17,411 at the 2000 census. By 2004 its estimated population had decreased slightly to 17,149. It is the county seat of Box Elder County. It lies on the western slope of the Wellsville Mountains, a branch of the Wasatch Range at the western terminus of Box Elder Canyon. It is currently the headquarters of Thiokol, the company that created the solid rocket boosters for the Space Shuttle.

Nearby attractions inclue Golden Spike National Historic Site, which lies northwest of the city near Promontory Summit. Utah State Route 13 heads northwest from Brigham City and turns north at Corinne. However, Utah State Route 83 continues west from there and eventually reaches Lampo Junction, where the turnoff to the historic site is located. Golden Spike National Historic Site is a U.S. National Historic Site located at Promontory Summit, north of the Great Salt Lake in Utah. It commemorates the completion of the first Transcontinental Railroad where the Central Pacific Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad met on May 10, 1869. The final joining of the rails spanning the continent was signified by the driving of a Golden spike.

The Historic Site encompasses 2,735 acres (11 km²). In 2002, it received 49,950 visitors. It was authorized as a National Historic Site on April 2, 1957 under nonfederal ownership. It was authorized for federal ownership and administration by an act of Congress on July 30, 1965.

The work of art known as the Spiral Jetty lies west-southwest of this site. The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge lies directly west of Brigham City on the northeast side of the Great Salt Lake at the mouth of the Bear River.

Peach Days is a celebration that takes place annually in Brigham City. It is a harvest festival filled with celebrations of small-town zeal. Peach days takes place the weekend after labor day weekend.
